1 . Drive in the Moment — On the race track there is no time to think of the past , the past will always be the past . When I first started out racing I would let things from my pass creep up , when I did my time was shit , my driving was shit , and most importantly my experience on the track was shit . Don ’ t let the past control you and take away the precious moments you could be experiencing now .
2 . Drive to the Next Corner — This has become my personal mantra . When I ’ m on the race track and I make a small mistake , I make note of it , but I don ’ t obsess over it . If I spent all my time on the track thinking about what I did wrong and judge myself I wouldn ' t be able to go any faster or improve . I have learned that once I acknowledged my mistake without judgment and ego , suddenly racing was effortless . Less shit in my head = less tension = more relaxed muscles = quicker reaction times = speed . Whenever I am going through tough times I tell myself , " Next Corner ". It helps me let go of whatever is bugging me or hurting me and move on . We all make mistakes in life ; the important thing is to learn from it , keep moving forward , and look at what life is throwing at you next . Because like the racetrack , life comes at you fast .
3 . Drive Through the Fear — There were numerous times where I feared a particularly fast corner not trusting myself nor the car that we could make it . But the minute I said , “ Fuck it !” and let go , guess what ? The car had plenty of grip through the corner and I made it in one piece . It felt uncomfortable at first but the more I did it the easier it got . I learned fear puts you into a nice little box . When you are in a box people and things can pick you up and control you . So you got to ask yourself are you going to be a box ? 4 . Drive with Passion — When I am on the race track I am raw , vulnerable , and passionate . Passion takes me where I want to go , and no one can stop me . I feel like I go into beast mode . Remember you a are the only one that listens to the negative voices in your head . The more you listen to the voices the more energy and power you give it . Reroute that energy into your passion . Passion gives you limitless energy , so use it to drive you where you want to be .
So ask yourself are you going to be on the sidelines of your life track or are you going to be the race car driver ?
Born in Salt Lake City , Utah , I am half Colombian and half Ecuadorian . I am super proud of my Latino heritage ! Part of my childhood I grew up in Florida then my family decided to move back to Utah where I stayed until I graduated from the University of Utah with a BS in Information Systems and BS in Entrepreneurship . Growing up I was told I couldn ’ t do certain things because I was a girl , and that just pissed me off . I have always been a fighter . Whenever someone told me I couldn ’ t do something I ’ d tell them “ Watch me .”
