Mary Oquendo Opened my doors in 2002 . In September 2001 , Was working for Petco and wanted to go to a trade show . I was willing to pay hotel and for my classes . I asked to take a training day , not my vacation time . Too bad for me , I had to take vacation . Get there to find out that petco corporate was there , had THEIR hotel and classes paid for . The kicker was I paid $ 80 extra to take a pet first aid class . I was talking to the instructor afterwards to find out he had just been in San Diego to teach upper management the same course I just paid $ 80 for . I was so pissed , dropped a deposit on a mobile grooming van . ( Totally new industry at that time ) and when my van arrived a couple months later . Put in my 2 weeks notice and just celebrated 15 years this past April . apple What is your favorite cocktail ?

Kelly Servis I was working for probably one of the best companies I was ever going to work for , but I was on a team of mean girls and it was absolutely miserable . I knew if I wasn ’ t going to be happy there , I was never gonna be happy in the corporate world . I ultimately made the decision to leave for a startup company and that changed my life . Working on a team of a just a handful of us towards one common goal of changing the way the sports travel industry worked , made me realize how passionate I was about working on something that was all or nothing for someone . After I saw the possibilities of being your own boss and an entrepreneur , I never looked back . I did 4 months with the startup crew and bailed to start my own biz . Being able to do things MY way and create a biz based on MY core values , made me realize I was here for a reason . I was put on this Earth to work with some of the most game-changing people in the world . < 3 apple
Shakisha Reynolds We ( my hubby and I ) decided it was time to move our kids from the Cayman Islands to the USA . Florida was our preferred destination because it ’ s closest to Cayman ( hubby stayed behind to continue supporting our family ). I went from corporate mom making $ 90k a year and on my way to 6 figures to stay-at-home mom . If my kids were going to only have 1 parent at home she was going to be present for everything . Anyway , I loved what I did in the corporate world however what I didn ’ t love was asking for time off or dragging my kids to work with me to sleep on the office floor when they were sick ( so I didn ’ t miss a deadline ) or how hard I had to work for $ 90k paychecks and $ 10k bonuses when the men all around me where making $ 250k and getting $ 50k bonuses ( I did the payroll , it was hard to suck it up every qtr .). Anyway , once the kids settled into their new home and new routine my inner business woman was ready to come out and play . I didn ’ t want a job that was going to take me away from my kids , I wanted freedom of my time , creativity and to only do the stuff I love . So , I did some research and started my VA / OM ( Operations Management ) biz .
