BADASS bosses Behind the Scenes How did you get started in business? Petra Monaco I had my handmade business since 2005 but didn’t grow it to make a 100% living off of it. In 2013 I decided to slowly move towards self-employment, getting my blog up and running. I started blogging with more intent to switch from therapist to coach/mentor in 2014. In July of 2015, I was fired because I am not a good conformist and have been fully self-employed ever since.  Sara Martin I’ve always been an artist of one sort or another. I used to paint on river rocks with my aunt when I was little. Painting, drawing, an AAS in Commercial Graphics which I never used haha. I’ve always been a closet psychic/intuitive also. So much in the closet that I never really knew it until a few years ago when I worked with a men- tor and she clued me in. But I’m not a team player, when the team isn’t something I believe in and am passionate about. I started stringing beads in 1999 and graduated to metalsmithing 6 years later. In- tuitive work began in earnest over 2 years ago. My challenge is figuring out how to actually bring in A LOT of money doing these things, which has yet to happen. But I can’t quit now and don’t want to!  43 Mila Herenda I started my first biz in 2008 after a really crappy time in my life. I went to the Dawson City, Yukon to get away from it all...and I did...lol. Almost died in a canoe accident and after that day I said I wasn’t going to be “just a waitress” anymore serving drunks at a bar. (I served the Sour Toe Cocktail up there, fyi it’s a mummified toe you drink in a shot. lol When I went back to Vancouver I tried “other jobs” around 20 in fact, quit, didn’t go back or got fired from every job. All within one month! Then heard about home staging. And thought...I can move people’s stuff around and tell them to declutter and decorate. YES! Couldn’t believe that was a job! Decided it was for me...bought biz cards with my last $14 and a business was born. My first job was $100 the next day, and the condo sold in 24 hours of me staging it. The second job was $10,000. Then 4 years later I got injured....I wasn’t able to do the physical aspect of staging anymore and took the leap into full time Tarot readings. Then evolved to intuitive business coaching now. (This was a Divinely Guided injury) It sure has been a wild ride, I wouldn’t take back any part of it and so happy and grateful I now have the lifestyle and business of my dreams. I get to be with awesome clients, play with cards,
