SWAP FURNITURE Have a gorgeous chair languishing in the dining room , only to be used on special occasions ? Give that chair some love and bring it in to your office ! Maybe there ’ s a dresser in the guest room that would be perfect for storing office supplies and furniture ? Get creative !
GET ORGANIZED Okay , I said easy changes . I ’ m not asking you to organize your whole life ! ( We can leave that for another month !) But we can start small . Like “ the top of your desk ” small . Gather up all the bits and pieces of working life that currently live on your desk . The paper clips , rubber bands , markers and pens . Now raid your kitchen cupboards and dining room buffet for all the cool , funky little one-off bowls , baskets , trays and vases that are collecting dust there . Vases make great containers for pens , rulers and scissors . Little decorative bowls are perfect for those random paper clips , stamps , rubber bands and staples . Serving trays and baskets are ideal for organizing receipts , mail and files . And don ’ t forget those gorgeous water goblets and wine glasses you ’ ve been saving for “ a special occasion .” Maybe the special occasion is an office that sparkles !
WORD Have you jumped on the bandwagon and chosen a word to guide you for 2017 ? Own it ! Paint it loud and proud on a wall in your { work } space . If your landlord isn ’ t as enthusiastic about that as you are , you can paint it up on a canvas and give it a place of honor .
TAKE A BREAK One of my client ’ s favorite additions to her { work } space was a little tea station . Her favorite mug , tins of fragrant teas , a jug of bottled water and an electric teakettle now live on a cute little cart in the corner of the space .
