She ’ s a Girl Boss . She ’ s a Boss Babe . She ’ s unapologetically fashion forward , business savvy , and AL- WAYS building her brand . There ’ s only one issue . She ’ s not making any money . So what exactly is she the boss of ? Good question .
The world is changing … and it ’ s pretty badass if you ask me . Feminism is no longer one of the “ bad ” F words . We have visible , successful women like
Sheryl Sandberg , Hillary Clinton , Angela Merkel , Susan Wojcicki and Ruth Bader Ginsberg to look up to . We have a woman running to be the most powerful leader of the free world . Women are becoming more successful , more visible , and much more brave . One of the products of this progression is the “ Girl Boss ” and “ Boss Babe ” movement .
Search those hashtags on any social media platform and you ’ ll be awe struck by the positivity , power , and pride coming from an entire generation of aspiring female entrepreneurs and leaders .
So what ’ s the problem ? Why complain , bitch or moan about a female positive movement of empowerment ?
Well , while the “ Girl Boss / Boss Babe ” movement isn ’ t producing any long-term harm , it is producing a short-term false reality for many women . Any woman that runs her own business knows that it ’ s not always pretty . For the majority of us , our bookkeeping is either outsourced or done in leggings and a shirt that you are pretty sure is still clean . Our Instagram photos are of us in that cute messy bun because we haven ’ t showered in 2 days .
