I have an affinity for thrift store makeovers. I love finding things at thrift stores and garage sales and then making them my own. It’s fun to know that whatever I find has a history and has its own story. Then, I get to add something to the item and add to its story. STEP THREE. After the paint dries, turn on the hot glue gun. Once it is heated, glue the twine to the glass holders. Start at the bottom of the holder and work your way to the top. Each time you wind the twine around the holder, press the twine to the previous layer to make sure they are touching. For this thrifty makeover, I want to show you how to spruce up glass tea light candle holders. It’s a quick and easy project that can be adapted to almost any glass container – event wine bottles! THE SUPPLIES Glass candle holders Glass paint Twine Hot glue gun Hot glue Paint Brush Tea lights THE PROCESS STEP ONE. If you’ve picked up your glass candle holders second hand, make sure they have been cleaned with soap and water and dry them off. STEP TWO. Paint the tops of the candle holders with the glass paint. You can decide how much you want to cover, but I painted about a quarter. I painted the outside of the glass holder because I don’t want the paint to come in contact with any flames from the candle. 53 Depending on the size of the container, you will want to glue the twine down about every two to three inches to make sure it is secure. Make sure you use a thin line of glue because you don’t want it peeking through between the layers of twine.
