I

have to admit , I ’ m kind of a project-aholic . Nothing is more exhilarating than a fresh new idea just begging to be implemented . I even created my business around developing ideas . And though it is tempting , pulling the trigger on every new idea isn ’ t good for business - or you - even if it ’ s a great idea .
Saying yes to too much opens the door to running an overwhelming + unfocused business . Not only will you feel like you have no time , you may also begin to feel disillusioned and frustrated . So how do you know which projects should stay and which should go ? Put them to the test by asking these questions :
1 . DOES IT FIT WITH MY BRAND ? For your business to be cohesive and clear , all the projects you undertake must fit with your brand . Implementing ideas that are out of alignment can confuse your audience and weaken your brand . Stay true to your core values and what makes you , well -- you !
whether financial , experiential or educational . It is your time + effort . Make sure you get the most of it .
5 . WILL IMPLEMENTING IT GET ME CLOSER TO MY OVERALL GOAL ? It ’ s time to take a step back and look at the big picture . Every decision you make should lead you one step closer to reaching your goals . They should bring you closer to reaching your vision . And , if it isn ’ t getting your closer , it is holding you back .
Qualifying your new endeavor will ensure you only take on projects that benefit your business . In the long run , your brand will be strong and striving .

Consider the time it will take , the obstacles you may face and the quality of work you ’ ll produce . If it doesn ’ t meet your standards , you may want to say no . Focus on the projects where your skills shine and are truly part of your passion .
3 . WILL WORKING ON IT FORCE ME TO LOSE FOCUS ON MORE IMPORTANT PRIOR- ITIES ? Sometimes projects can be a form of unintentional procrastination . If the new project is putting off something important it is time to re-prioritize . Take a broader view of your projects . Keep your eye on the prize and focus on your most important .
4 . DOES IT HAVE A CLEAR BENEFIT OR PAY- OFF ? Sometimes projects just sound fun . But , if they aren ’ t benefiting you , it might not be a good use of your time . Every project should have a payoff ,
