that didn’t get worn much because
they aren’t comfortable. Or they
didn’t fit well. And still don’t. And
instead of thinking I should hold
on to them because it will cost
too much to replace them, and
what if I do lose 20 pounds before
spring—I just shrugged. I can get
clothes that fit now, and clothes
that fit later.
I no longer need to use other
people’s designer cast-offs to make
myself feel secure. If there was
magic in those threads, it’s magic
I’ve already used to create a new
life for myself.
No more shoving all my things
into one room because that’s all
I’m granted. I have a 3,000 square
foot house in a high-end sub-
urb now. I have a husband who
adores me instead of a boyfriend
who won’t commit farther than a
weekend date. I don’t scrub floors
to make ends meet—I help other
women learn to put down their
own brooms and create their own
happy endings. And to realize that
they had the power inside them to
go where they wanted to, all along.
No matter what they wear on the
way.
About the Author
Kathy Kassab is a suburban housewitch on the outside and a fairy
princess on the inside. Or maybe it’s the other way around. Either
way, don’t tell the neighbors, as it’s a conservative suburb and they
startle easily. She’s a serial entrepreneur and recovering journalist
turned life coach who wants every woman to discover she’s her own
fairy godmother. She spends her leisure time eating really good
chocolate, taking long baths in the Jacuzzi, and counting the days
until Game of Thrones is back. Team Daenerys FTW!
