Maybe if we talked about sex as commonly as we talked about ‘ Game of Thrones ’ We wouldn ’ t have shamed survivors , forcing them to walk around like drones .

Maybe if we addressed how rape isn ’ t sex , Men and Women would know better , know what to expect .
Maybe if we raised our voices , FOR the hundreds of thousands stripped of THEIR choices .
Maybe sex and the survivor wouldn ’ t seem so wrong to envision , It ’ d be more wrong to even joke of the invasion .
Maybe if she ’ d just …. not a damn thing . Because her dress , drinks , language , hair , eyes , arms , tits …. are NEVER HER FAULT .
Maybe if he ’ d just ….. not a damn thing . Because his body ’ s natural response to immobilizing fear or pain shouldn ’ t be held against him . Maybe if we justice ’ d more barbarism and less victim-ism .
Maybe if WE talked about sex as commonly as we do the new gaming system , Boundaries would be respected and lines never crossed .
Maybe if we had a serious talk about rape culture and how , any culture that justifies rape Isn ’ t a culture , it ’ s a cult .
Maybe if we treated rapes as heinously as a murder , Three to 6 months , 2-4 years , 18 months and probation would finally be seen as injustice .
Maybe if we considered that a rape is as good as a murder , That trust in ourselves , the rapist , our society , our justice system wouldn ’ t fail .
Maybe , just fucking maybe , we spoke up , even if only a whisper , Your son , daughter , mother , father , aunt , uncle , cousin , nephew , niece wouldn ’ t know THAT whimper .
Maybe if we changed our tune about the damage done We wouldn ’ t think rapists like Brock Turner were just ‘ having a little fun ’.
Maybe if we looked at the numbers and stood aghast at how high , yet low , they are We wouldn ’ t blame the chick who had a few too many at the bar .
Maybe if we talked our sons and our daughters , They would know that it ' s not just strangers , but their aunts and mothers , uncles and fathers .
Maybe if we listened to the unspoken words of a person ’ s soul ripped apart , Saw them not for the tattered clothes and blood-stained legs , but for a bleeding heart .
Maybe if we rose up and took up the challenge , to end the suffering of thousands , Rape wouldn ’ t be something that our loved ones drowned in .
Maybe if we deemed it irresponsible , irrevocable , and irregular behavior We wouldn ’ t have millions searching for a savior .
Maybe if we just woke the fuck up and realized a few things , Like how the flashbacks , feelings , and memories forever sting .
Maybe if we learned that hope was possible not intangible , We ’ d have healed our souls just by moving our mandible .
Maybe if we looked at us with compassion and empathy , Shoving away pity and sympathy .
