pletely
off the
golf map
(well, al-
most,
and then
I’ll circle back) this time to
what’s going on in the Land of
Narro, Louisiana. Our oldest
daughter is getting married.
He popped the question,
she said yes, and we have until
November to get a wedding to-
gether. She swears it’s going to
be small, but the “buts” keep
rolling in.
But I have to invite this per-
son. But I really want this look.
But I love this style.
When Jake and I got mar-
ried, the only reason we didn’t
hop a flight for Vegas is be-
cause my mother looked at
me like she would throw me
off a bridge when I suggested
it. Then, she did the, “If that’s
what you really want ...” thing.
So, we had a really cool wed-
ding and party to follow with
right at 100 people.
For us, that’s impressive.
I do have the benefit that as
a daughter of an immigrant,
my dad’s family is 5,000 miles
away. While I would have loved
every one of them to be there,
that cut the guest list in a big
way. But my mom is one of five
children, and Jake’s mom is
one of five. See how this could
get out of hand quick?
But it didn’t. We had a ball.
And we want to do the same
thing for Alex.
She is sensible. She knows there is
not an endless bank account. But she
wants to have fun too. The one thing
that has really touched our hearts
is that she is looking at golf course
weddings, and I have to tell you about
Carter Plantation.
We
were
completely
shocked at the affordable ven-
ue. While it has been com-
pletely renovated since it took
on flood waters in August and
has all the amenities any bride
could dream up, it’s a heck of
a deal.
Food, some decor, tables,
chairs, coordinator, rooms to
stay. It has it all.
No, Bill and Andre Cald-
well did not ask me to write
this. And while they are huge
supporters and contributors to
this publication, I wasn’t going
to ask about having a wedding
there because I thought for
sure I would have to take out
an additional mortgage on the
house.
Not so, my friends.
I ran into one of their recent
brides, and she set me straight.
You can see the prices on-
line if you’re really interested,
but I’m sold. And Alex is too.
She’s finalizing decisions and a
couple of logistical things be-
fore she makes up her mind
completely, but this place has
it all.
I would bet that a lot of oth-
er courses also offer packages
and deals that would surprise
me.
I’m relieved and excited
at the same time. The back-
drop for this wedding is going
to be stunning. Alex already
knows where everyone’s going
to stand and what they’ll wear.
She should because she and her
sisters have talked about their
weddings their entire lives.
Of course, the boys are all
ready for their tee times on the
day of. They want to stay in
the awesome villas so they just
have to walk across the street
and shower and then walk
back to the wedding.
This is going to be fun. I
can’t wait. If you have anyone
thinking about tying the knot,
suggest a club. Definitely sug-
gest Carter Plantation. Watch
over the coming months for
the final decisions and the ex-
perience.
