It ’ s been almost two years since ground was broken on a new championship-style golf course , existing in the heart of City Park in New Orleans . The course , aptly named Bayou Oaks because of the natural flora and fauna highlighted in its design , will leave a unique mark on the golfing community in Louisiana , according to general manager Brian Long
“ It brings another opportunity for great golf in New Orleans ,” Long said . “ There ’ s a few other great places to play as well in the area . But I don ’ t think there ’ s anything this town has seen that ’ s this close to the downtown area . We ’ re only 10 minutes from the French Quarter , so there ’ s a major convenience factor here as well . It ’ s not just for locals , but really for anyone who may be visiting the city .”
City Park lost two courses due to Hurricane Katrina and one shortly before due to poor financial potential . For the new generation of golfers , they ’ ve only known City Park with one course – North Course .
