this spring be sure to try it out . I was also impressed with the new TP5 and TP5x golf ball . I look forward to playing them this year as well .
As interesting as all that new stuff was I was ready to get the round going . We dismissed at 9:30 which gave us about an hour before the 10:30 shotgun start . My warm-up on the driving range went okay but not as well as I hoped . I ’ m not really the kind of player that stresses if it doesn ’ t go well ; however , I had been swinging better than in recent days .
My first hole of the day was a 189-yard par three where I blocked a 6-iron in the right fringe roughly 50 feet from the hole . An average chip left me a 10-foot putt for par which I buried in the middle of the hole .
After two good pars , I birdied my fourth hole of the day , the par-five 11th , despite a poor drive . My next hole set up the rest of the day for me . Number
12 on the tournament course is a long , uphill dogleg left . I killed a drive which left my an 8-iron to a back left flag . A horrible , unsure swing left me in a spot where Seve couldn ’ t have made par . My Philly Mick flop left me a 30-footer for par which I made with perfect speed . From there , I settled in for the day and posted 68 which was good for a T2 and my spot at Pebble .
Amber and I had a great dinnertime celebration with Maury Hodgens , another staff member from Diamondhead Country Club and Andy Houlette , sales representative for TaylorMade , who are both good buddies .
While sitting in the Sonny Bono airport , which has the be the cleanest and quickest airport in the world , we were certainly basking in our glow . Lots of smiles and kisses were in order for the way home as we had a trip we will remember forever .
