Easley fires low
round at BankPlus
Oxford Invitational
Oxford, MS- CJ Easley came
out strong in the final round of
the BankPlus Oxford Invitational.
Easley, of Oxford, started the day
two back from the leader Isaiah
Jackson and knew he would need to
make up some ground in order to
get ahead of the talent surrounding
the lead groups.
Easley’s eagle on four and solid
round was key to taking home the
title. The runner-up position came
down to home course knowledge
for David Calhoun and Beau
Briggs.
Midway through the afternoon,
the senior division completed play
with three tied for the lead. Brother
Sandifer, Rickey Riley and Paul
Hunt proceeded to number one tee
to commence their playoff. Riley
won on the second green, leaving
Sandifer and Hunt tied for runnerup.
There was another strong field
of super senior golfers for the third
annual Country Club of Oxford
Invitational. Danny Hooker, of
Pontotoc, broke away from the
three golfer tie following the first
round. Hooker fired a 77 in the
second round which was enough to
win by two. Runner-Up positions
went to Mike Thompson and Jud
Vance, both of Tupelo.
The MGA thanked the Country
Cub of Oxford for supporting
this invitational as well as golf
professional, Ricky Hamilton.
Grenada, MS- The weather
cooperated and the final round was
able to be played with no weather
delays for the first time all weekend.
