coach; he also helps me with
chipping or putting. He not only
cares about your technique, but
your mental stability and works
with a mental health specialist.
Golf is more mental. It’s all aspects
of the game.”
It is in every facet of her life that
she wants to excel in as well.
“I want to succeed in everything
I do,” said Mary. “I want to do
the best I can in school, get to
highest level in golf, major in
communication, and hopefully I
can have a career in broadcasting.”
Her golf successes sparked
interest from just the right groups
of people.
“I just started talking to colleges
because of my win at the AM and
they’re all in the south, so some
are close to home,” said Mary.
“I’ve gotten a little attention from
University of Louisiana at Monroe
and Lamar University in Texas.

My coach has contacted Furman
University in South Carolina and
that would be amazing to be able
to go there because they are ranked
pretty high.”
Although Mary hopes to teach
golf, there are a few things golf has
taught her .
“It has definitely taught me
patience, just you can’t win unless
you put in work and practice,”
said Mary. “Last year, I wasn’t as
committed to it. Two years ago, I
didn’t practice as much and I came
out with a win. It kind of spoils you.
But it doesn’t work. It doesn’t help.
My dad says it’s better if you lose
this one because it will teach you a
lesson in the end.”
Through these lessons learned
came victory.
She was the 2015 High School
Regional Champion, 2015 Division
I High School State Champion,
2015 New Orleans Metro Player of
the Year and 2016 Division I High
School State Champion.
“My hope for Mary is that she
follows her dreams and puts forth
great effort to see them come true,
and remember that God has a plan
that is not always in our timeframe,”
said Lori. “Always thank and praise
God for the beautiful life He has
given us.”
