Beau David wins Cajun Classic in playoff by Ian Auzenne The temperatures and the competition were hot Tuesday and Wednesday during Cajun Classic at Oakbourne Country Club. Beau David and Taylor Morton battled the stifling heat and each other during the 2016 Cajun Classic, but neither could seize the victory during regulation play. David, of Lafayette, and Morton, of Broussard finished the 36-hole tournament tied at 159 to force a sudden-death playoff to determine the regional champion in the senior division. David parred on the first playoff hole. Boys 15-18: Beau David, Lafayette; Taylor Morton, Broussard; Oliver Morton double bogeyed, giving David the Nickel, Crowley. victory and the championship. Oliver Nickel, of Crowley, took third place in the senior group by shooting 163. Chance Queen, of Alexandria, dominated the Boys 12-14 division, shooting 157 to take home the regional championship in his age group. Roberto Espinosa, of Arnaudville, shot 165 to claim second place. Canon Clark of Lafayette shot 166 to finish in third place. Dax Reaux of Breaux Bridge took top honors in the Boys 9-11 group by shooting 91 in the division’s two-day, 18-hole tournament.
