Wolcott, Covich take Ladd’s/Club Car

Metairie, Louisiana – Even-par proved
the lucky number this week at the 2016
Ladd’s/Club Car MS PGA Chapter
Championship as both Bob Wolcott, PGA
of Tunica, Mississippi, and Jerry Covich,
PGA of Ocean Springs, Mississippi,
captured the Regular Division and Senior
Division crowns, respectively, with evenpar total scores of 142. Wolcott is Director
of Golf at Tunica National Golf Resort
and Tennis, and Covich is the Head Golf
Professional at Hickory Hill Country Club.
The Regular Division runner-up was
Marshall Saxon of Biloxi, with a total
score of 2-over par (144) followed by Olly
Thomson of Canton, in third place with a
total score of 3-over par (145). The Senior
Division runner-ups were Kent Smith of
Vicksburg and Rich Fulkerson of Laurel,
with a tied total score of nine-over par (151).
Beautiful skies and no rain for Round 2
sharply contrasted the dreary and muggy
weather conditions of Round 1, making for
an interesting mix of weather conditions for
players. Covich siad, “It was kind of strange
to start off with a seven stroke lead today so I
tried not to mess up and played [a little less]
aggressive. The golf course was great, and
we were fortunate that the weather turned
out great. I am thankful to be 68 years old
and still playing and winning.”
Wolcott reflected on his round saying,
“The big thing is [that] I putted well. It
was a pleasure to play, and I was in a great
mood. The tournament was well run and
the course was in excellent condition. We
have great sponsors, and it is an honor to be
the [Regular Division] champion.”
The Gulf States PGA thanked Head
