news&scores Bergeron, Perilloux, and Johnson Qualify for National Big “I” Metairie, Louisiana – Louisiana’s top junior golfers contended in the 2016 Louisiana Trusted Choice Big “I” Junior Championship on Tuesday, June 21st and Wednesday, June 22nd at The Island in Plaquemine, Louisiana, to qualify for the Trusted Choice Big “I” National Championship at Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento, California on August 1-4. Two boys and one girl qualified to represent Louisiana at the highly competitive National Championship. Defending Boys Overall Champion Jacob Bergeron of Slidell, Louisiana, shot stellar rounds of 64-68 for a two-day total of 12-under par 132 to secure his first place victory for the second year in a row. Stewart Perilloux of Zachary, Louisiana, shot rounds of 70-76 for a two-day total of two-over par 146, and tied Connor Wilson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, who shot one-over par 73 each round. Perilloux claimed his second place victory after winning a One Hole playoff against Wilson. Bergeron and Perilloux qualified for the National Big “I” Championship. Girls Overall Champion Julia Johnson of Saint Gabriel, Louisiana, shot a solid 68-76 for a two-day total of even par 144 to secure her victory and qualify for the National Championship. Abbey Daniel of Covington, Louisiana, followed close behind Johnson with rounds of 74-74 for a two-day total of four-over par 148. Reagan Huddleston of Coushatta, Louisiana, won the Boys 12 & Under with rounds of 39-42 for a two-day 18-hole total of nine-over par 81. Liza Lapeyre of New Orleans won the girls 12 & Under with rounds of 33-34 for a two-day 18-hole total of five-under par 67. The Gulf States PGA congratulated the National Championship Qualifiers – Jacob Bergeron, Stewart Perilloux, and Julia Johnson – as well as all of the other competitors on a job well done. The Gulf States PGA thanked Bryan Lanoix of Lanoix Insurance Agency for his continued support. They also thanked Head Golf Professional Chris Burkstaller, PGA; General Manager Daniel Preston, PGA; Head Golf Course Superintendent Howard Champagne, and the entire staff at The Island in Plaquemine, Louisiana, for their help in creating a successful event. 37
