Oklahoma State ’ s Krostoffer Ventura won the individual championship with an even par 216 after hitting a 1-over 73 on Wednesday . He edged out UMKC ’ s Antoine Rozner who finished at 1-over with a 217 and was 4-over on the final day .

Mississippi Wins 2016 Governors Cup at Northwood Country Club 22-18

Meridian , Mississippi – The 11th Annual Governors Cup was played at historic Northwood Country Club . Mississippi hosted the Arkansas State Golf Association for Ryder Cup format matches between the two associations , which govern amateurs .
Arkansas took the early lead winning 6.5 points on Friday morning in the four-ball matches to Mississippi ' s 3.5 points . After a quick lunch break , the foursome matches began in the afternoon . Mississippi ' s seniors put early points on the board in the alternate shot format . Mississippi won 8 points to Arkansas ' s 2 points in the foursome matches . Mississippi took a 3 point lead into Saturday ' s Singles Matches-MS 11.5-AR 8.5 .
Saturday ' s singles matches were competitive and back and forth all day . Mississippi needed 9 points to win , and Arkansas needed 11.5 to tie , which would have resulted in Arkansas retaining the cup for another year . The Mississippi seniors came out strong , winning 5.5 out of 10 possible points to keep a slight edge over Arkansas . ASGA ' s team members
Dixon , Jenkins , Zimmerman , and Schaap came back fighting to take 4 points .
With the matches close and 4 matches still on the course , each player had his state and teammates rooting him on . Brandon Laird and Noah Goldman ' s two points secured the win and bringing " The Cup " back to the Magnolia State .
Clay Homan and Beau Glover were all square going in the final hole , thinking the cup was on the line . Homan won the match 1 up to give Mississippi 10.5 points to Arkansas ' s 9.5 points in the singles matches .
Team Mississippi won the 11th Annual Governor ’ s Cup 22-18 . The MGA thanked Chris Jenkins and Jay Fox of the ASGA for putting together the team and traveling to Mississippi . The MGA also acknowledged captain and vice captains Richard Reed , Brother Sandifer and Bobby Maddox , PGA Head Golf Professional Billy Pomeroy , Golf Course Superintendent Britt Pollock , and the members of Northwood for hosting .
