Kirkland dominates to win La . Games
CALHOUN , Louisiana – A picture perfect weekend was complemented by almost perfect golf from Joey Kirkland this past weekend at the Mizuno / USSSA Louisiana Games .
Kirkland of West Monroe gave one of the most impressive and consistent performances on the tour this year , shooting three under ( 141 ) to win the Boys 15- 18 competition at Calvert Crossing Golf Course .
Tour regular Charlie Flynn of Alexandria finished in second place with a score of 152 , edging out third-place finisher Jack North of Calhoun by one stroke and fourth-place finisher Joel Boyett , also of Calhoun , by two strokes .
Canon Clark picked up another victory on the USSSA Tour . The Lafayette resident shot 162 to win the tournament . James McMahon , of West Monroe , finished in second place with a score of 168 . Tanner McKenzie , of Franklinton , rounded out the Top three by shooting 171 .
Ashton Cruse of Columbia took home top honors in the Boys 9-11 event , shooting a 106 and holding off runner-up Alex Henagan of Monroe by three shots . Zachary Belle of Youngsville finished third with a total of 118 .
Ashleyjen Powell of West Monroe won the Girls 9-11 group title , shooting 90 in the 18-hole event .
The Mizuno / Louisiana USSSA Junior Golf Tour now heads to Lake Charles for the Mizuno / USSSA Battle at the Lake . That tournament is scheduled for May 28 and 29 at Gray Plantation Golf Course . The registration deadline is May 25 . Email robert . boudreaux @ usssa . com for more information .
