sophomore from Welwyn Garden
City, England, began his play for
UCA in the spring and finished
in the top 10 four times in only
six tournaments. Tomlinson, who
earned a spot on the all-conference
first team, had a season-low 212
total at the Houston Baptist Colin
Montgomerie Invitational in his
first collegiate tournament as a
Bear. He averaged 73.72 strokes in
18 rounds and recorded a seasonlow round of 68 at the Bob Sutton
Invitational, March 15-17, and
at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate,
March 21-22.
Burk claimed his first coach of
the year honor after leading the
Cowboys to their first Southland
Conference Championship since
1979. With the title, McNeese
earned the league’s automatic
bid to an NCAA regional. Burk is
the third McNeese coach to earn
this distinction, joining Hubert
Boales (1978, 1979) and Moe
O’Brien (1977). Burk helped lead
the Cowboys to three tournament
titles with their two other victories
coming at Sam Hall Intercollegiate
hosted by Southern Miss in
September and a win at the Old
Waverly Collegiate Championship
hosted by Mississippi State in April.
Joining Eriksson and Tomlinson
on the first-team all-conference
are Stephen F. Austin senior Luke
Sheehan, Sam Houston State junior
Andrew Ertel and Southeastern
Louisiana junior James Anstiss.
Earning
second-team
allconference are Lee, McNeese
sophomore Andreas Krokeide,
Lamar junior Zander Gous and
senior Gregory Wiggins, and Sam
Houston sophomore Jake McCrory.
The third-team all-conference
consists of UIW senior Austin Wylie,
Sam Houston freshman Mason
Weld, Southeastern junior Paul
Obermann and senior Lawrence
Allan, and UCA freshman Luis
Obiols.
Sam Houston and Southeastern
led all schools with three allconference selections while UCA,
Lamar and McNeese each placed
two members on the all-conference
teams. UIW and Nicholls each
had one all-conference member.
Seven golfers made a return
appearance on the all-conference
teams as Eriksson earned his
third all-conference recognition
while Sheehan, Anstiss, Krokeide,
Wiggins, Obermann and Allan
each received their second career
all-conference honor.

Conference Golfer of the Month
FRISCO, Texas – McNeese
State senior Martin Eriksson was
named the Southland Conference
Men’s Golfer of the Month for
March presented by UniversalCoin.
com, the league office announced
Wednesday.
Eriksson tied for second at
the Border Olympics hosted by
the University of Houston in
Laredo, Texas. In a rain-shortened
tournament, the Cowboy senior
shot a two-round total of 137
(66-71). He followed that up with
a top-20 showing at the UTSA/
Lone Star Invitational with a threeround score of 224 (77-74-73). In
five rounds, Eriksson averaged 72.2
strokes with a low round of 66.
