Alton Robinson , who has worked for 20 years as a marshal at Quail Hollow , said that the tall pine trees that help contribute to the character of the course became hazardous during Hurricane Katrina . He said that the land did not resemble a golf course in the aftermath due to the numerous downed trees , but that in two weeks of cleanup , the course had recovered .
According to Alton Robinson , the scenic course has attracted its share of celebrity attention .
“ Lots of Saints players come up here ,” he said . He also listed dancer Kevin Federline and retired football player Ray Guy of the Oakland Raiders among past famous guests .
He said that many travelers find the course because of its relatively close proximity to New Orleans .
Quail Hollow hosts a variety of golf events throughout the year , such as its annual charity four-ball tournament , which will celebrate its 10th anniversary on May 21 and 22 . This event raises money to donate to local charities . In April , the course also saw Talos Energy ’ s tenth Moore , Morgan and Geer Memorial Golf Tournaments .
