Mouton and Queen have comeback win at USSSA
Cameron
Mouton
staged a comeback at the
Links of the Bayou Golf
Club, improving his score
by 10 strokes from the first
round to win the Boys 1518 championship at the
Mizuno USSSA Luck of
the Irish 2, sponsored by
the Alexandria/Pineville
Convention and Visitors
Bureau.
Mouton, of Lafayette,
won the tournament and
his first USSSA title from
the second-to-last pairing–
a rarity on the Louisiana
USSSA Tour – shooting a
164 (87-77) over the twoday, 36-hole event.
Nick Grabowski, of
Alexandria, finished three
strokes back to take second
place. Harrison John, of
Lafayette, finished eight
strokes off the lead to claim
third place.
Hometown
golfer
Chance
Queen,
like
Mouton, came back from
the second-to-last pairing to
return to the winner’s circle
in the Boys 12-14 Division.
Queen took advantage of
Sunday’s strong southerly
winds and played his
home course perfectly to
finish with a score of 151.
Runner-up Payne Johnson
of Shreveport finished three
shots behind Queen. Thirdplace finisher Ryan Dupuy
of Baton Rouge finished
five strokes off the lead.
