Lake Charles invites you “haveclubs-will-travel” folks. It wants to welcome you and show off its courses, its culture, its cuisine, its natural wonders and its side-by-side casinos that would make the best in Las Vegas blush. Fact is, this city of 70,000 in Calcasieu Parish down in the left-hand corner of Louisiana’s boot has all the ingredients to pass a good time cher, be it playing golf, rolling the bones on the craps table or sitting down for a sumptuous seafood repast. And don’t blink because scuttlebutt has it Lake Charles is about to experience some serious growth, an explosion insiders say may triple its metropolitan population in the near future. Although any day that ends in a ‘y’ would be acceptable for this surprising little jaunt, the best access to the best golf is during the week for those with the requisite time on their hands.
