Ramey charges back for victory

PGA Professional Kyle Ramey was three shots behind after round one . With a 3-under par 69 in the final round , Ramey took home the title of 2016 Gulf States PGA E-Z-GO Section Champion . This year ’ s Championship was held at Baton Rouge Country Club Sept . 26-27 .
Ramey won by three shots with a 73-69 ( 142 ) 2-under par total , and with this win , he has earned an exemption into the 2017 Zurich Classic of New Orleans at TPC Louisiana .
Ramey , Head PGA Professional at Windance in Gulfport , Mississippi , said , “ It was a good day all in all . I hit the ball really well and finishing the round the way I did with birdieing 17 and 18 was the cherry on top .”
This was the first tournament that Ramey competed in as a PGA Member . He said , “ My goal was to win . I wanted to play well and have a good finish . This was a big bonus winning this one . Everything fell right into place .”
Ramey added , “ The 2017 exemption into the Zurich Classic of New Orleans is
the coolest part of it . It has been a life-long goal coming to fruition . During the event , I am going to take it all in . I am very grateful to have this opportunity to even have a chance to compete .”
Ramey said , “ Baton Rouge Country Club is a great facility and the golf course was perfect . Thank you to host PGA Professional Bobby Jacks , the entire staff , and membership . We all felt like members over the two days there .”
Ramey congratulated the Gulf States PGA Staff on a great event . He said the setup was the best he has seen in his three and half years playing in the Section . Also , he thanked E-Z-GO , Benji Nelson of Ben Nelson Golf and Utility Vehicles , Jani- King , Josh Lampley of Cutter and Buck , Mark Danton of Ouray , and the PGA Tour for sponsoring the event .
Finishing tied for second at a two-day total of 1-over par were PGA Member Derek Sanders , PGA Member Reed Hughes , and PGA Member Phil Schmitt .
