Daniels wins 2015 LWGA Mid-Am
Kay Daniel, Covington, won her eighth
Louisiana Women’s Golf Association MidAmateur Championship title at Money Hill Golf
& Country Club, Oct. 10-11. Her first day round
of one under par 71 gave her medalist honors and
coupled with a 73 on day two, yielded a 36 - hole
winning total of 144 on the par 72, 5,868 yard
course. A member at Money Hill, Daniel has now
won 11 LWGA titles, including the 1988 and 1989
Junior Girls as Kay Donaldson, and was the 2005
Amateur Champion and 2015 Amateur finalist.
Julie Harrison of Baton Rouge was runnerup with 75-77=152. Harrison was the 2008
Mid-Amateur Champion, won the Amateur in
2004 and was the 2011, 2012 and 2013 Senior
Champion.
Daniel successfully qualified for the 29th
U.S.Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship just
played at Squire Creek Country Club, Choudrant,
Oct. 3 – 8. She was among the 64 players who
qualified on site for match play and advanced
to the Quarterfinals, making her exempt from
Sectional Qualifying for the 2016 Championship.
