New Orleans, Louisiana - On August 12,
2018, The Kelly Gibson Foundation along with
its community partners awarded $64,500 in
college scholarships to 26 members of the Kelly
Gibson Junior Golf Tour presented by Nestle
Pure Life. Scholarships were given to deserving
participants at the Annual Awards Banquet
presented by Alvarez & Marsal held at the
InterContinental New Orleans. Each year, these
scholarships are awarded based on community
service, academic achievements, and financial
need and not golfing ability.
Fourteen (14) scholarships totaling $31,000
were given on behalf of The Kelly Gibson
Foundation. Two (2) $2,500 scholarships,
awarded to Josie Headrick of Slidell and
Madeline Boudreau of Harvey, and two (2)
$5,000 scholarships, awarded to Savannah Ennis
of Abita Springs and Chris Wilson of Covington,
were given on behalf of the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
One (1) $2,500 scholarship was awarded
on behalf of McMath Construction to Peter
Hansen of New Orleans. One (1) $2,000 “We
Power Life” scholarship was awarded on behalf
of Entergy New Orleans to Caroline Hingle
of Covington. One (1) $1,500 scholarship
was awarded on behalf of Treetop Merit to
Karrington Knight of New Orleans. Vincent
Almerico of Diamondhead, MS was the
recipient of the one (1) $1,500 Curtis Bethea
Memorial Scholarship. Callee Breland of Bay
St. Louis was the recipient of the one (1) $1,500
Susan & Garic Schoen Scholarship.
Two (2) $2,000 scholarships were given in
the name of The PIG (Partners in Giving)
Invitational Charity to Reese Drezins of Slidell
and Chase May of Covington. Three (3) $1,000
scholarships were given on behalf of Cox
Communications to Antoine Liddell of Luling,
Kyle Estay of Larose, and Nolan Lambert of
Gretna.
Four (4) scholarships totaling $15,000 were
given on behalf of the Fore!Kids Foundation.
Jay Beatmann of New Orleans was awarded the
$5,000 the FKF Board Chairman Scholarship;
Alex Gelpi of Destrehan was awarded the $5,000
FKF Buddy Seeling “Making a Difference”
Scholarship; Julia Simon of New Orleans was
awarded the $2,500 Zurich Classic Tournament
Chairman Scholarship; and Kati Albright of
Pearlington, MS was awarded the $2,500 Zurich
Classic Title Sponsor Scholarship.
Three (3) scholarships totaling $7,500 were
given on behalf of the BC Cup Foundation in
memory of Barry Hogan and Colin Headrick.
Zachary Barrios of Slidell, Dwayne Heron of
Terrytown, and Benjamin Oelkers of Metairie
each received $2,500 scholarships. One (1)
$2,500 Gary & Gerry McCool Scholarship was
awarded to Brandon Garcia of Harahan.
One (1) scholarship in the amount of $2,500
was given on behalf of The Mackel Foundation
to Lori Launey of Gretna.
