Team Louisiana wins 2017 Senior
Tri-State Event
Team Louisiana captured the eighth
annual Senior Tri-State Championship at
Black Bear Golf Club in Delhi, Louisiana
Aug. 19th and 20th. The competition
between Arkansas, Louisiana and
Mississippi features 12 senior women
players representing each state. The
match play format is four-ball on day one
and modified foursomes on day two, with
a point for winning a match and a half
point for a half.
At the conclusion of regular play, teams
Arkansas and Louisiana each had seven
points. A Four-Ball Match Play hole-by-
hole play-off was conducted between the
two teams, with the respective captains
selecting two players to represent their
sides. Julie Harrison, Baton Rouge,
and Mary Lynn Stuart, Shreveport,
represented Louisiana against the two
best players from Arkansas. It took five
extra holes, but finally Louisiana hoisted
the trophy to celebrate its first victory in
the eight years of the competition.
