Tyree and Whittington take LWGA
Four-Ball
Brooke Tyree, Sulphur High senior, and Carly
Whittington, Kinder and sophomore at Lacassine
High, paired to win the 2017 Louisiana Women’s
Golf Association Four-Ball Championship with a
stunning 19-under-par 60 - 65 – 125. Their effort
was nine shots better than the runner-up pairing
of reigning LWGA Amateur Champion, Riley
Isaac and Olivia Hansen. Both are from Lake
Charles, a sophomore and senior, respectively, at
McNeese State.
The Championship was played at Koasati
Pines, Kinder, Aug. 7 and 8, with 40 teams
competing.
In the first round, Tyree, 2016 and 2017
LWGA Junior Girls Champion, shot a Koasati
course record 62 on her own ball.
