Adams wins PGA Professional Championship;
Agbasi, Bailey & Pomeroy qualify
Reg Adams of Shreveport,
Louisiana, was victorious at
the 2017 Gulf States PGA
Professional Championship held
on August 21-22 at Squire Creek
Country Club. He will lead the
four Section PGA Professionals
that will compete in the 51st PGA
Professional Championship, June
17-20, 2018, at Bayonet Black
Course in Seaside, California.
Adams turned in a winning total
of 1-under-par 143 to capture the
Gulf States PGA Professional
Championship Title. He defeated
Obie Agbasi of Monroe on the
first playoff hole. Cliff Bailey of
Shreveport, Billy Pomeroy of
Meridian, and Kyle Ramey of
Gulfport, tied for third, finishing at
even-par 144. Bailey and Pomeroy
successfully qualified for the 51st
PGA Professional Championship
following a two-hole playoff.
The
PGA
Professional
Championship will mark its
second visit to Bayonet Black
Horse.
The
Championship
brings together a field of 312
contestants representing the
PGA of America’s 41 nationwide
Sections.
The
PGA
Professional
Championship,
carrying
a
$550,000 total purse this year,
is broadcast (all four rounds) by
Golf Channel. Following 36 holes
of play, the field will be trimmed
to the low 90 scorers and ties, and
following 54 holes of play, the
field will be trimmed to the low 70
scorers and ties.
The low 20 scorers in 2018
will earn berths into the 100th
PGA Championship, Aug. 6-12,
2018, at Bellerive Country Club
in St. Louis, Missouri. In addition
to the Walter Hagen Cup, the
PGA Professional Championship
winner also receives an exemption
into the next 10 PGA Professional
Championships and exemptions
into six PGA Tour events over a
12-month period.
Established in 1968, the PGA
Professional
Championship
roster of Champions includes
the following premier Tour
professionals: Sam Snead, Bob
Rosburg, Don Massengale, Ed
Dougherty, Larry Gilbert, and
Bruce Fleisher.
The
PGA
Professional
Championship
is
presented

Championships and the National
