McCalla steps down after 22 years;
calls job labor of love
Louisiana Golf Association (LGA)
Executive Director Carr McCalla announced
he will be stepping down at the end of 2017,
completing over 22 years as head of the
organization.
“This has sincerely been a labor of love.
I am tremendously fortunate to have been
able to work with a number of great staff
and board members dedicated to improving
benefits for all LGA individual members and
member clubs,” said McCalla. “It is certainly
bittersweet for me, but I am confident the
organization will continue to work tirelessly
on behalf of this wonderful game we all love
so dearly.”
McCalla began his tenure with the LGA
in October 1995 as the first full-time staff
member of the organization formed in
1920. During McCalla’s tenure, the LGA
added a director of member services in 2001
and a director of championship operations
in 2011 to its full-time staff. Former LGA
employees now hold positions at the United
States Golf Association, the Washington
State Golf Association, the Virginia State
Golf Association, and the Arkansas Golf
Association, a testament to McCalla’s eye
for hiring skilled employees and his strong
mentorship.
