Preparing for the Fall : Taking Care of Nagging Injuries

This time of the year is where we , as an office , start seeing more and more people come in and want to prepare for surgeries that they will eventually get in the winter . Not only does the body need to be prepared physically , but also mentally .
After surgery , the body cannot possibly handle the load that it was taking prior to the surgery , so extra curricular activities should be eased into . While training prior and post surgery , compression clothing is a great way to increase blood flow .
Many injuries happen after the surgery because the individual does not properly stretch the area that was surgically prepared , so there is a reoccurring injury afterwards .
Now getting into fall , the cooler weather presents problems . Being ill and having fatigue , provides more opportunity for injury .
Let the body heal and ease into all activities post surgery . The body will thank you and will be stronger in the end anyway .
Physical Therapy is a great way to help the back to normal strength and possibly even stronger . Dry needling and cupping have proven to be effective techniques to relieve pain in certain areas by rushing blood to the tender areas . Contact your physical therapist to see if you need to get prepped for fall activities .
