It’s fall and it feels sooo… hot, still. I walked
12 holes the other day and looked like I just got
off the basketball court, drenched in sweat. I,
personally cannot wait until it cools down.
I say that, but it felt amazing on the water,
fishing this past weekend. My grandpa took me
and one of his employees, who is my age, out to
the Rigolets, in Slidell. We didn’t even break a
sweat, and caught 25 keepers.
Jake finally found enough time to squeeze a
nine holes with me in his busy fall golf schedule.
I brought out the new clubs that were Jake’s
previously, and played like I haven’t played with
the clubs yet. I’m thinking I might tweak the
driver to a higher degree because I was blocking
everything right with it.
Jake, of course, shot three under and had
three other putts for birdie that were very near
to going in as well. I just need to practice with
the clubs a bit longer to get a feel for them. I am
looking forward to playing a round or two with
the guys on the team this year.
I worked in tandem with my parents to
get the golf team and their equipment to the
By Shayne Narro
airport and it all went smoothly for their recent
event. I get jealous from those guys playing
high level courses all over the country and a
few of them all over the world because they are
international students. There are only relatively
a few golf courses locally that are feasible to
play on a regular basis.
I am graduating with an OSHE degree
from Southeastern Louisiana University, and
I’m trying to figure out if I can find a secure
job locally or try to chase the money around
the country working turnarounds as a safety
administrator.
If I plan to travel with my job, I feel like I
will definitely have the opportunity to play a lot
of great golf courses. That is definitely factored
into the decision.
When golf grabs you, it grabs you. And it
has definitely grabbed me. I’m 22 years old, and
I’m already planning it into my life longterm.
And so ... it begins.
