Team Louisiana wins Junior River Cup
Team Louisiana defeated Team Mississippi
30-10 in the 2017 Junior River Cup Matches
at Squire Creek Country Club. The best
junior golfers in the Bayou State successfully
defended the title won by the 2016 squad at
Diamondhead Country Club in Mississippi
to make it back-to-back victories.
Team Louisiana set the tone early and
took a 6-4 lead after the Saturday morning
Four-Ball matches, and they really turned
it on in the afternoon foursome matches,
winning eight out of a possible 10 points.
Team Louisiana's 14-6 lead after day
one was comfortable, but with 20 points up
for grabs in Sunday's singles matches, they
needed to again play their best golf to secure
the win.

Play their best golf is exactly what they
did.
Team Louisiana won 16 out of 20 singles
matches, including a 4-0 sweep in the 12-13
year-old division.
“I’m extremely proud of the way our team
competed and represented our state with
class,” said Louisiana Team Captain and
LGA Assistant Executive Director Logan
Ray. “The kids had a blast and made some
great memories. Junior golf in Louisiana
continues to trend in the right direction, and
we were able to showcase that.”
Ray also said he wished to thank Squire
Creek for wonderful hospitality.
