BREC Junior Golf Camps Competitive League Camp June 4th -5th, and 7th – 8th (4 Days). Mon, Thurs, Friday @ City Park; Tues @ Santa Maria. Camp begins at 7:30am and runs till 4:30pm daily Open to boys & girls, 10 to 13 yr. old (9 yr. old who have competed in recognized jr golf programs and can play 18 holes can be accepted). Limited to a size of 24. A program designed for juniors seeking to elevate their game to play on a more competitive basis. The camp is not set up to teach juniors how to play golf, programs such as The First Tee are more aptly suited for that. Juniors will need to operate with a distinct level of independence, capable of managing their own equipment, able to walk and keep up with an understanding of safety and courtesy. Parents are invited to attend if they wish to help their junior in the initial stages, but it is not mandatory. Ideal as a warm up to the PGA Jr League. The fi rst two days are geared toward practicing, learning proper course management, understanding rules of play, and simulating regular play. The last two days then challenge the juniors to participate in competition culminating in a team competition and awards on the fi nal day. Parents are invited to attend the match and awards ceremony on Friday afternoon. Camp orientation for parents and juniors will be 11am on May 12th at Santa Maria and Camp Prep at City Park for 5:30 pm on May 25th. Fee: $185; payable to BREC. Includes orientation, range balls, green fees, uniform shirt and cap, and awards. Managed by a PGA Professional and staff . Juniors permitted to bring snacks, refreshments, and lunches. Cell phones permitted but with limited access. Proper golf attire required. PGA Jr League Golf Camp June 18th through 21st (4 Days). Mon & Tues @ City Park; Wed @ Webb; Thurs @ Beaver Creek. Camp begins at 7:30am and runs till 4:30pm daily Open to boys & girls, 9 to 13 yr. old (8 yr. old who have competed in recognized jr golf programs and can play 18 holes can be accepted). Limited to a size of 32. A national program designed for juniors playing in a team format in a competitive format. The camp is not set up to teach juniors how to play golf, programs such as The First Tee are more aptly suited for that. Juniors will need to operate with a distinct level of independence, capable of managing their own equipment, able to walk and keep up with an understanding of safety and courtesy. Parents are invited to attend if they wish to attend as spectators, but it is not mandatory. Players will be divided up and placed on teams, which is why it is important for all participants to attend the Camp Prep on May 19th. Teams will play 7 matches overall, 9 holes in the morning and 9 in the afternoon. Awards will be given out following the afternoon match on June 21st; parents and family are invited to attend. Additionally, following the last match the All- Star team will be announced and will be eligible to compete in the Gulf States Championship. A program designed for teens interested in playing in more competitive events and for their high school golf team (and possibly college team), this is not necessarily for players who already compete in regional or national events. The camp is not set up to teach juniors how to play golf, programs such as The First Tee are more aptly suited for that. Players will learn how to practice and play in competitive style events; gaining greater knowledge about rules, strategy and course management, and incorporating more advanced skills necessary to compete on a higher level. Juniors will need to operate with a given level of independence, capable of managing their own equipment, able to walk and keep up with an understanding of safety and courtesy. Parents are invited to attend if they wish to attend as spectators, but it is not mandatory. May 22nd, Orientation and Prep for the Camp at 5:30p @ Santa Maria. Fee: $200; payable to BREC.
