MGA
Changes to 2017 POY System and
2018 Cup Team Invitations
The MGA has partnered with Bushnell Golf
as the 2017 Bushnell MGA Regular, Senior,
Super Senior, Overall Male Junior, and Overall
Female Junior Players of Year sponsor.
The MGA board of directors voted at its
winter meeting to add the following champions to
the governor’s cup team, in addition to the POY
standings: The 2017 Mid Amateur Champion,
State Amateur Champion, Senior Amateur
Champion and the Super Senior Amateur
Champion will earn automatic invitations to the
2018 Governor’s Cup Team. The super senior
portion of the team, will also include the 2017
Super Senior POY and the Senior portion will
include 1 captain’s pick and the top 6 players
in the POY. The Mid-Am portion of the team,
will also include a captain’s pick, and the top 7
players in the POY. If any alternates are needed,
they will be selected by the captain.
Two changes were made to the POY points
system: 1. The minimum number for full points
in the regular division was reduced to 40 players
from 50 players. 2. The Two Day sanctioned
points were increased in the 1st four positions
(1st-80 points, 2nd-60 points, 3rd-50 points, 4th-
40 points). These changes will be applied to the
events that count for the 2017 Player of the Year.
