North Oaks Sports Medicine certified athletic trainers have joined North Oaks Physician Group orthopaedic surgeons to select Kade Bleakley , Alana Chandler , Trent Martin and Jazmyn Womack as the 2017-2018 “ Student-Athletes of the Winter Season ” in Tangipahoa and Livingston parishes .
Female and male students were chosen from both parishes , representing the months of November-December 2017 and January 2018 .
Alana Chandler is a senior at Springfield High School with a 4.7 GPA . As a center / power forward in her fourth year of play for the Lady Bulldogs basketball team , she ’ s scored a stat line of five points , six rebounds and two assists this season .
“ Alana manages the locker room with the best of them , controlling and conducting herself with class , showing compassion for others , motivating a young team and leading by example with ultimate effort and hustle on the court ,” said Lady Bulldogs Head Basketball Coach Byron Garner . “ She ’ s a coach ’ s dream as it pertains to receiving constructive criticism and being accountable for on- and off-the-court issues .”
In addition to playing basketball , Chandler is a Springfield High School cheerleader and member of the golf team . She also is active in Beta Club , Fellowship of Christian Athletes , the Builders Club , Leadership Council and the Livingston Parish Talented Arts Program in the discipline of theater .

Jazmyn Womack is a senior with a 3.8 GPA at Ponchatoula High School . She is a strong forward for the Lady Waves basketball team and will graduate as a 4-year letterman in the sport .
St . Thomas Aquinas Regional Catholic High School senior Kade Bleakley maintains a 3.9 GPA and has played basketball for the Falcons for four years .
As a point guard , he has netted 18 points versus Archbishop Rummel High School , 10 points against Lee Magnet High School and 23 points versus Parkview Baptist High School this season .
Trent Martin is a senior shooting guard for Springfield High School ’ s boys basketball team now in his fourth year of play . Martin has netted more than 100 points this season , averaging eight points , four assists , four rebounds , two three-pointers and one steal per game .
A Woodsman of the World Award recipient , he maintains a 4.2 GPA and scored a 29 on the ACT . He also has played football all four years of high school for which he was named to the All-Parish Second Team and garnered All-District Honorable Mention accolades .
Principals , coaches and athletic directors from high schools in Tangipahoa and Livingston parishes nominate student-athletes . Candidates must : have a 3.0 GPA or higher , excel in athletic competition , participate in school and community organizations and have earned the respect of coaches , teammates , officials , teachers and their peers . In May , the North Oaks Sports Medicine team will choose a “ Student-Athlete of the Year ” from all season honorees .
