Campo 3-peats, Weems’ back 9 rally
proves victorious
The Golf Cars of Louisiana/Club Car
LA PGA Championship named its 2017
Regular and Senior Division Champions
today. The event was held on May 22-23
at Oak Wing Golf Club in Alexandria,
Louisiana.
Clay Weems, PGA, opened the first round
with a score of one over par 73 finding
himself in second place and one shot back
of the lead. Weems finished round two with
a four under par 68 and this was capped off
by an eagle on 16, which sealed his victory
of the Championship.
Weems is the assistant PGA professional
at Frenchman’s Bend Country Club in
Monroe. Craig Campo, PGA, General
Manager of Oak Wing Golf Club, in
Alexandria defended his title for a third year
in a row as the Senior Division Champion
with a two-day total of 149, five over.
The Regular Division Runner-Up was
Phil Schmitt, PGA of Baton Rouge. In the
Senior Division, Robbie Gueringer, PGA,
of Alexandria, finished as the runner up.

Round one proved to be very difficult
with rain all day and an hour and a half
delay. Round two was followed by clear blue
skies and sunshine. The conditions were
perfect to finish the Championship.
The Gulf States PGA thanked PGA
General Manager Craig Campo, Host PGA
Professional Robbie Gueringer, Head Golf
Course Superintendent Jordan Harrington,
and the complete staff and membership at
Oak Wing Golf Club, for their hard work
that went into making this event a great
success.
The Gulf States PGA Section would

of Golf Cars of Louisiana, as well as the
