just another bucket list trip: VEGAS
I’m sorry but I must continue
to brag about another golf trip I
recently took. My first trip to Las
Vegas wasn’t about gambling,
attending shows, or walking the
strip. It was to play in a one day
event sponsored by TaylorMade
at the iconic Shadow Creek Golf
Course. It was a quick trip as I
was only there for two days, but I
crammed in as much as I could in
that short amount of time.
I stayed at the Mandalay Hotel
and Casino which was so big I
nearly got lost in it my first day.
My tee time was at noon so that
morning I did a little exploring in
and around the strip. Believe it or
not, it was a cool morning in June
as a front had moved through the
area the night before. Morning
temps were in the high 60s so it
was quite a pleasant walk. I met
the buses that were taking us to
the golf course at 10 a.m., and we
took off for a great day of golf.
The field consisted of 72 staff
members of TaylorMade and a
few of their executives. Before
play ,we were treated to a seminar
with putting guru Dave Stockton,
Jr., which was very interesting. He
is very simple in his approach in
which he stated putting is 10%
technique and 90% attitude. What
I take from that is if you believe
you’re going to make a good
putt, you have a great chance of
actually hitting one. But enough
of that, let me tell you about Golf
Digest’s 26th ranked course in the
America.
