players of the year MGA Player of the Year Joel Myrick - Hattiesburg, MS This is Joel’s first time receiving the honor of Player of the Year. Canebrake Country Club is where this Southern Miss Men’s Golf Team Alum calls home. It is no surprise that Myrick quickly rose to the top of the points race with an outstanding season. Myrick is the 2017 Greenwood Invitational Champion, MS State Am Runner-up, represented the MGA in the Governor’s Cup and MS Cup Matches, qualified and competed in the 2017 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship in Atlanta, GA, as well as two other top 5 finishes in 2017. MGA Senior Player of the Year David Sellers - Madison, MS David Sellers is a first-time Senior Player of the Year recipient. Reunion Golf and Country Club is the course that David calls home. David won the senior division at the 2016 Coast Amateur, one of the first tournaments of this season. He completed the season with nine top-5 finishes and placed in the top- 10 of every championship where points were awarded. Sellers was also a member of the Governor’s Cup Team and the amateur team of the MS Cup matches. 42 MGA Super Senior Player of the Year Ricky Sims - Canton, MS Sims adds this honor to a long list of past titles. These include nine Senior Player of the Year titles and a Super Senior Player of the Year title. When not at a MGA Championship or Sanctioned Tournament, Ricky Sims can be found at the Country Club of Canton. During the 2017 Season, Sims was the Super Senior Amateur Champion, Trustmark Super Senior Champion and top-5 in three other tournaments. He also represented Team MS in the 2017 Governor’s Cup as well as Team MGA in the 2017 MS Cup Matches. MJGA Girls Overall & Girls 16-18 Player of the Year Presley Baggett - Canton, MS Presley adds these honors to her two previous Girls Overall Player of the Year titles. She is the 2017 MS Girl’s Junior Amateur Champion. The LSU Women’s Golf Class of 2018 Signee had a great summer on the MJGA circuit obtaining two wins and one other Top 5 finish in the 2017 season. She also represented Team MS in the Southern States Jr Cup and qualifying to compete in the Trusted Choice National Big I Junior Championship held at Annandale this past August. Presley traveled to Santa Fe, New Mexico, to represent Mississippi in the U.S. Women’s State Team Championship. At the end of her season, she was invited to participate in the BankPlus Sanderson Farms Junior Pro-Am at the 2017 Sanderson Farms Championship.
