The First Tee of Greater New Orleans Recognized for Contributions During Biennial Network Meeting

The First Tee recognized many outstanding contributors to the organization during its 20th anniversary Network Meeting in Orlando , Fla . Nov . 8-11 . Award recipients included : Johnson & Johnson , The First Tee Legacy Partner ; Golf Channel , The First Tee Proud Media Partner ; and World Golf Hall of Fame member Annika Sorenstam ; The First Tee Advocate .
The First Tee of Greater New Orleans was recognized for their efforts and were awarded the Barbara A . Douglas – Dr . William J . Powell Organizational Diversity Award . The award recognizes chapter efforts towards diversity and inclusion with program participants , staff and board members .
Staff members of The First Tee of Greater New Orleans were also recognized for their individual efforts . Director of Education , Perry Faulkner , became a Recognized Program Director within The First Tee network , completing three years of successful training . Kyle Albright was recognized as The First Tee Coach , a distinction for coaches who have completed 4 + years of successful training .
The First Tee of Greater New Orleans alumna , Angelica Harris , was selected to attend The First Tee Alumni Summit at the Network Meeting . On Sunday , Harris was chosen for the opportunity of a lifetime to play in a foursome with former President George W . Bush at Bay Hill Golf Club as part of The First Tee Trustees golf outing . President Bush serves as Honorary Board Chair for The First Tee . Harris , a 2016 ACE certified graduate from The First
Tee of Greater New Orleans , is currently a Sophomore playing collegiate golf at Washington University in St . Louis , MO .
Concurrent to the Network Meeting was The First Tee Outstanding Participant Leadership Summit , which brought 28 teenage participants from across the nation in for three days of leadership and character education sessions . At the Saturday evening Gala Dinner , Gerry Jones , Jr . from The First Tee of Hampton Roads and Meghna Mazumdar from The First Tee of Connecticut each received $ 20,000 scholarships from Shell Oil Company , The First Tee ’ s Founding Corporate Partner . In 2015 , Harvey native , Carlo Carino , won the Outstanding Participant award and received a $ 20,000 scholarship . Carino graduated from Jesuit High School in 2016 and is currently a Sophomore at LSU .
The First Tee 2017 Network Meeting in Orlando included record-setting attendance with more than 1,000 attendees from over 140 chapters of The First Tee . The event featured several keynote speakers , educational breakouts and best practice-sharing networking sessions .
