Herring wins Patrick Farms Junior

It was an exciting day at Patrick Farms Golf Club as 32 junior golfers in all age groups set out to play the MJGA Patrick Farms Junior tournament . The Boys A division champion was Garrett Herring of Laurel , Mississippi who posted a score of 75 , followed by second place finisher Landon Draughn of Petal , Mississippi , posting a 76 .
Nathan Slack posted a 78 to take home the third place trophy .
Spence Davis of Madison , Mississippi , took the outright lead in the Boys B division with a 5 stroke lead over the field and posted a 2 over par 74 to become champion . Following behind Spence was Connor Gee of Madison , who shot a 79 to take 2nd place and Joseph Berry of Braxton shot an 81 to secure third .
The Boys C division champion was William Marshall of Madison who posted a 76 . The second and third place trophies were claimed by Braden Lagendyk of Meridian , posting 78 , Noah Harkins of Madison , posting 86 .
Grayson Davis of Madison shot a 3 over 39 to take the first place trophy home in Boys D division , followed by John Markow of Ridgeland and Tucker Gutierrez of Ridgland . Markow posted a 9-hole score of 40 , and Gutierrez shot 43 to take home third place .
The Girls A division saw close competition , but Sarah Johnson of Florence was able to rise to the top with a low score of 78 . Jenna Belton of Brandon posted an 87 to take second , and Abigail Wickham of shot a 91 for the third place trophy .

Lampley takes Greenwood Invitational

It was a great weekend of golf as 175 players from all over Mississippi flooded to Greenwood for the 71st annual Greenwood Invitational .
Josh Lampley finished as the Greenwood Invitiational champion .
Round 1 of the Greenwood Invitational was highlighted with low rounds and outstanding golf as Joel Myrick fired a 62 to take the lead on the first day . However , Myrick ’ s great play did not separate him from the pack .
Lampley was able to shoot a 63 to keep things close . In third place after round 1 was complete was Justin Elliott who shot a 6 under par 66 . Elliott not only played a great round of golf , but also had a hole-in-one , the only one of the tournament .
Great play continued in round 2 of the Greenwood Invitational with 15 players coming into the scorer ’ s tent under par . Cade Lott had the low round of the day with a 66 , followed by Michael Naaman who shot 68 .
The final day of golf was filled with a competitive atmosphere as the championship flight was set to tee off . Myrick and Lampley were tied at 12 under heading into the final round , followed by Elliott at 7 under and Smithers and Boswell at 6 under par . As the day unfolded , Lampley was able to secure victory came out the winner of the Girls B division by posting a solid score of 85 . Hannah Hinckley of McComb posted a 92 to take second place , and Mattie Granberry shot 97 to secure the third place spot in her division .
Harper Hinckley of McMomb shot 39 to grab the first place trophy in the Girls D division . Allie Myers of Pearl and Lucy Cook of Madison took second and third place by shooting 9 hole scores of 52 and 55 , respectively .
The Boys E divsion was won with a score of 50 by Wil Collins of Flowood and the Girls E division was won by Karstyn Altese of Diamondhead who shot a 9 hole score of 40 .
The MGA thanked all the junior golfers who played and made this a fun and exciting tournament .

The MGA reported that his tournament shares a huge role in Mississsippi golf history as it is the second oldest tournament in the state . The organization reported that great weather and a fun competitive atmosphere led way to a wonderful weekend of golf .
