McDugle qualifies for USGA Senior
Amateur Championship
Ed McDugle of Memphis, Tennessee shot
a one-under par 71 on Wednesday to capture
medalist honors and take home the one
qualifying spot at the Sectional Qualifier for
the USGA Senior Amateur Championship
at English Turn Golf & Country Club in
New Orleans. McDugle advances to the
Championship at The Minikahda Club in
Minneapolis, MN, August 26-31.
Tommy Brennan of Covington shot 76 to
finish in second place and will serve as first
alternate. Lewis Lauve of Alexandria, Mase
Rudolph of Covington, Gary Brewster of
New Orleans, and Mark Leblanc of Houma
finished in a tie for third place at 78. Lauve
will serve as second alternate.
The English Turn G & CC track played to
a par of 72 at just over 6,700 yards.
In Minneapolis, a field of 264 competitors
will compete over 36 holes of stroke play
qualifying. The low 64 players will then be
placed in a match play draw to determine the
champion with the first match to be played on
August 28. Second and third round matches
will be conducted on August 29; quarter-
final and semi-final rounds will be played on
August 30, with the final championship round
to be conducted on August 31.
