Bailey takes GSPGA Senior Professional
Championship; heads to Scottsdale
Cliff Bailey of Shreveport won
the Gulf States PGA Senior Pro-
fessional Championship which
took place July 31-Aug. 1 at Shell
Landing Golf Club in Gautier,
Mississippi. Bailey will compete
Sept. 28- Oct. 1 in the 29th Se-
nior PGA Professional Champi-
onship.
The National Championship,
presented by Mercedes-Benz
USA, will be played at Desert
Mountain, in Scottsdale, Arizo-
na.
Bailey turned in scores of
69-73, two-under-par 142, and
won a 6-hole playoff over Chip
Sullivan of Pearl, MS to cap-
ture the Gulf States PGA Senior
Championship. Reg Adams of
Shreveport, LA will join Bailey Kenny Huges and Cliff Bailey
as a qualifier shooting scores of
76-71, three-over-par 147. Al-
ternates are: Emlyn Aubrey of
Shreveport, LA; Reed Hughes
of Senatobia, MS; and Scott
Buntin of Starkville, MS.
In the Super Senior Division,
Jerry Covich of Ocean Springs,
MS took home top honors with
scores of 74-74, four-over-par
148. Ed Selser of Patterson, LA
finished three shots back at sev-
en-over-par 151.
The Section thanked the en-

Shell Landing Golf Club includ-
ing PGA Owner Kenny Hughes
and the Head Golf Course Su-
perintendent Jeremy Ely.
