Independent research has shown that the tournament generates spending of more than $ 40 million within the local economy and garners $ 33 million in positive national and international media exposure for both the city and state throughout the year beyond the four days of competition .
The tournament will be played April 23-29 , 2018 at TPC Louisiana in Westwego . Purse for 2018 totals $ 7.2 million , with each member of the winning team earning $ 1,036,800 .

Volunteer Opportunities

When volunteer committees are assigned , priority is given to returning volunteers and then on the basis of when volunteer registration was received .
In order to receive the complimentary round of golf at TPC Louisiana , each Volunteer must work the equivalent of two ( 2 ) full days ( 8-12 hours each day ) or four ( 4 ) half days ( 4-6 hours each day ). Hours depend on committee assignment .
Laser Operators – ShotLink : This committee will be stationed on fairways and behind greens on platforms with laser equipment to track and record professionals ’ shots . Mandatory training will take place on Saturday , April 21 , 2018 . Optional hands-on training will be available on Wednesday , April 25 , 2018 but will not count as a shift worked . Due to the ShotLink / Laser Operator shortages , we will make every attempt to honor your schedule requests ; however , there are no guarantees . AM shift is 6:30 a . m . – 12:30 p . m . and the PM shift is from 12:30 p . m . – end of play ( roughly 6:30 p . m .)
On-Course Marshal ( Holes 1-18 ): Marshals provide assistance with crowd and noise control at all tee boxes , greens , and fairways , as well as heavily trafficked areas and player crossings on-course . AM shift is from 6:30 a . m . – 12:00 p . m . and the PM shift is from 12:00 p . m . – end of play ( roughly 6:30 p . m .)
Marshal – Driving Range : Driving Range Marshals provide assistance with crowd control at all practice areas including driving range , practice greens and player crossing areas around the Clubhouse . Driving Range Marshals will be accepted and scheduled with first priority to returning volunteers . Due to On- Course Marshal shortage , once the Driving Range Marshal committee is filled registered volunteers will be assigned On-Course Marshal duty . AM shift is from 6:00 a . m . – 12:00 p . m . and the PM shift is from 12:00 p . m . – end of play ( roughly 6:30 p . m .)
Player Transportation : This committee will transport the PGA TOUR Players and their families to and from TPC Louisiana using courtesy vehicles . Volunteers must be 25 years of age with a good driving record and a valid driver ’ s license . During registration you will be asked to enter your driver ’ s license number ; driving records will be checked . Volunteers must be very knowledgeable of the route to and from the golf course as well as downtown New Orleans . Volunteers must work a minimum of six hours per day . Additional help is needed Friday , Saturday and Sunday before tournament week , however , these days will not count as shift worked for the round of golf . Shifts are determined by Player Transportation Captain and necessary pick-up / drop-off schedules .
Scoring Trailer : This committee assists the PGA TOUR Staff at the scoring area located at # 9 green . AM shift is from 6:30 a . m . – 12:00 p . m . and the PM shift is from 12:00 p . m . – end of play ( roughly 6:30 p . m .)
Standard Bearer : This committee will walk 18-holes inside the ropes and must be able to carry an aluminum sign ( includes a harness for easy carrying access ) to post the Player ’ s score summary . Training will be provided before first shift and knowledge of golf scoring is necessary . Shifts are based on tee times . One 18-hole shift is considered a full day . Preferred weekend tee times are scheduled based on seniority .
Walking Scorer : Limited to experienced , returning volunteers only . This committee will walk 18-holes inside the ropes . They will carry a handheld computer device ( Palm-pilot ) and input scores and statistics into it . The scorer will also have radio contact with the PGA TOUR staff . Must have knowledge of golf and be able to walk 18 holes . Mandatory training will be provided on Saturday , April 21 , 2018 at TPC Louisiana . Shifts are based on tee times .
