Strathearn Science Festival comes to Breadalbane Academy
Events from the Strathearn Science Festival were held in school on Monday 22nd to Friday 26th February 2016.
The week kicked off with an expert Ecologist from the Open Air Laboratories Services working with pupils in S3 on
the importance of Earthworms in a soil ecosystem. If was a very hands-on, practical session and the pupils
learned a lot about the science of soil. Pupils in Primary 4 to 7 and S1 were treated to a Maths lesson with a
difference: using circles to create 3D shapes and patterns to understand fractions.
Later in the week, we were lucky to have a visiting Zombieologist from the Zombie Institute of Theoretical Studies.
He gave a very interesting talk on the “Genes of the damned” to pupils in S2 and S3.
