Highland Chef Finals
S2 Home Economic classes have been
working towards the Highland Chef finals
which took place in school on Friday 10th
March. Chef Lee Patrick and Eddie his
colleague from the Townhouse restaurant
came into school to judge the event. It
was agreed that the food was of a very
high standard with Lee exclaiming that
Bethan MacDonald’s winning dish
showed the most skill he had yet seen in
this event to date.
The following pupils were successful with
their winning dishes;
Winner: Bethan MacDonald with
her 3 layer mousse with a
chocolate sleeve and macarons
Runner Up: Finlay Smith with his
parmigiana creation.
Third place: Nicola Swan with her cheese soufflé.
Fourth: Angus Dennison-Pender with his pea and spinach soup.
There were also two awards for young people who had made significant effort with their creations;
Keefe Bridgeman for his Nutella cheesecake
Sean Calhan for his chocolate orange cupcakes
The winning dishes were recreated at the Townhouse this week when Lee and Eddie welcomed the winners
into their kitchen and hosted a gourmet dinner for staff, parents and hotel residents.
Staff Tapas Event
The S3 pupils studying Health
and Food Technology planned a
Tapas event for a staff lunch on
Friday. It was a very successful
event and thoroughly enjoyed by
all who took part. The pupils
worked really hard and we were
very proud of what they
achieved, the food was delicious
and the staff were very
complimentary about the quality
of the food. Well done to all
involved!
