Scottish Country Dancing
On Tuesday 7th February , primary pupils will be showing each other the dances they have been learning in PE . As in previous years we are fortunate to have secondary pupils play for us at this enjoyable event .
Jungle Book Performance
Our Primary department will be joined by pupils from some local schools to enjoy a performance of the Jungle Book by M & M Productions on 21st February . After the performance P7 pupils from Breadalbane will have the opportunity to work with the cast learning about the technical aspects of putting together a production .
Dogs
It would be greatly appreciated by staff and pupils if dog owners ensured that dogs are not allowed to foul within the campus grounds . The grassy area next to the carpark is used as an outdoor space by pupils and due to some irresponsible dog owners it is currently not safe or pleasant for use as dogs have been allowed to foul without the owners removing the resulting waste .
Parent Pay is a tool for parents and carers to pay for any school trips , school lunches or school ties online . If any parent or carer has not already activated their account can you please contact the school office to receive your activation code and password .
World Book Day
Once again our Primary department will be celebrating World Book Day in the primary and nursery . On Thursday 2nd March pupils are welcome to come to school dressed as a book character if they wish . In the past the huge variety of costumes has resulted in lots of discussion about characters and stories as well as created a genuine buzz and enthusiasm about literature throughout the school which we hope will continue this year .
Chinese Workshops
The High Altitude Balloon Club
The High Altitude Balloon Club ( HAB ) is now doing systems tests on the hardware that we intend to send into ‘ near space ’. The Institute of Physics provided £ 500 to partially fund the project and one requirement was that we include the wider community . Towards this end we have sought ideas to include on our mission and we are now seeking helpers to track the payload on the day and help us reclaim our very valuable setup . The main ‘ chase vehicle ’ will be equipped with a radio receiver in direct contact with the payload but the transmitter also sends information to a server that displays the position of both the balloon and the chase vehicle in real time . Any phone with 3G access will be able to compliment the chase vehicle and it is hoped that with some basic communication we might anticipate the landing spot and place several search teams in the locale . Think of it as a high tech treasure hunt ! Purchasing of the aforementioned radio equipment and essential items such as Helium gas , weather balloon and parachute is now underway . If all goes according to plan ( it hasn ’ t yet !) we intend to be ready to pick a final launch date sometime before the Easter holidays . Many thanks are due to the school fund and parent council for continuing to support our ambitions with a further funding allocation this term .
Perth Sheriff Court Visit
N4 / 5 Modern Studies pupils will be visiting Perth Sheriff court early in February to find out about the work of the courts system and to meet with the sheriff .
