APOLLO HOUSE We are now half way through the first term and things are going well in Apollo House. Students from 7AMU and 7LBL have settled in, and have recently been involved in the Shoe Box Appeal. They have been filling shoe boxes with toys, hygiene items and school supplies. These items will make their way to less fortunate students across the world for Christmas. Students from 8GCH and 8EOR have taken part in a memorial project for the National Memorial Arboretum. They decorated 30 wooden soldiers which were then sent to the Arboretum and displayed on their ground; there are more details of this on the school website. As for our KS4 students, Years 9 and 10 are now both doing option subjects, whilst Year 11 students are working hard towards their mock exams which will start on Monday 28th November. Students are starting to see the benefit of attending revision sessions before and after school and will need to keep this momentum going until the summer, in order to achieve the best possible grades. On another note, I am always impressed by the generosity from our students and staff in school. Before half term, the school ran a Foodbank appeal for Rugby Foodbank and the response from Apollo students was overwhelming! Each House had a table displayed in the school foyer and the Apollo table soon disappeared under an incredible amount of tins brought in by students. I would like to give a special thank you to students from 8GCH who collected over 50 tins as a tutor group, and to Molly O’Reilly (8EOR) for her fantastic personal contribution to the appeal. Finally, we are still doing really well with the House points, with many students being rewarded for their hard work and effort in lessons. The first few Bronze certificates (150 points) have been issued and well done to our top 3 Apollo students so far this year: Francesca Hallam (8EOR) with 155 points, Hannah Ingham (11AKA) with 149 points House Points Competition current half-term APOLLO 2774 FORTUNE 2617 GARRICK 2666 PHOENIX 2372
