FOREST SCHOOLS
Year 8
The Year 8 Forest School and outdoor education programme is run on a termly basis. Students on the
programme have: worked on the school garden project, visited Salcey Forest to compare broadleaved and
coniferous woodlands, practised bushcraft skills at the local wood including cooking, taken part in basher
shelter building, walking trails and teambuilding. They have also participated in kayaking/stand up paddle
boarding and high ropes at Rutland Water.
The programme also incorporates the ethos of the
John Muir Award – Discover/Explore/Conservation/
