AVS MEETS KOKORO - TAKE 2
Our second careers event took place on 31st October at the Benn Hall . After a powerpoint presentation , students were initially asked to identify 5 statements concerning positive aspects of what makes them ‘ employable ’. They then had to identify the barriers of them being employable – such as ‘ I ’ m not confident ’, ‘ I may not achieve the grades ’ etc .
A group facilitator talked to the students about how they could change their mindset , and what they could do now , to ensure that they become more employable . Further discussions took place on ways to prepare for an interview ; which was good practice for the upcoming mock interviews due to take place at the end of November . The morning session finished with a team building exercise before the students walked back to school .
The session today was a confidence-building exercise for Year 11 students to enable them to move forward in securing a positive outcome for Post 16 and their future . Year 11 students should now be applying to colleges , schools with 6th forms , or apprenticeships to ensure they get a place on the course they want to study in 2017 .
